Dylan Widger-Imagn Images Husker wrestlers ready for NCAA tournament We have more Nebraska basketball to watch. The ladies are playing Louisville on Friday. And the men didn’t make the NCAA tournament, but they made a new one, the College Basketball Crown. Nebraska plays Arizona State. Here’s to hoping we see the mid season Huskers and they are able to make it far into this tournament. Husker Associate Head Coach Bryan Snyder (right) and assistant coach Tervel Dlagnev (left), seen here looking on during a match at the Big Ten Championships in Lincoln in 2022, have helped put together a team that is ready to contend for a team trophy. | Dylan Guenther / Corn Nation The Huskers are projected to finish 4th based on their seeds, setting them up for their first team trophy since placing 4th in both 2008 and 2009 To Hell with basketball, March is for wrestling.... |
Photo by Dustin Satloff/Getty Images Oh no, he doesn’t. And when asked about them, he gave exactly the answer you should all want to hear. I’ve never found the whole “we win offseason championships” thing very funny. Maybe I did a little bit at first, but only in that manner we laugh as a way of easing the pain with teeth gritted a little. And the reason is because, after a year or two, it’s a way of making light of the fact the off-season... |
Photo by Steven Branscombe/Getty Images I ate some humble pie last night. When the NIT field was announced, I was a little dismayed that Nebraska did not it. I mean, of course. A Nebraska team that was slotted to make the NCAA tournament a month ago ends up not even qualifying for the NIT. Well then I was informed that Nebraska was actually locked in on a new postseason tournament called “The Crown” which is a tournament attempting to replace the NIT as the second... |
Let’s avoid talking about the stickball sports… We learned that the Husker women are headed to the Birmingham Regional as a 10 seed in the NCAA basketball tournament. They will face Louisville, coached by former Husker assistant Troy Walz. The overall #1 seed is UCLA, a team the Huskers played pretty well in the Big Ten tournament (but lost badly in their regular season matchup). Fellow Big Ten newcomer, USC is another #1 seed. If I have my count right, 12 Big Ten women’s teams... |
Nebraska Athletics The Bruins score 5 unanswered on the Huskers to win 5-3. The Nebraska baseball team had a rough start to the two week California swing. Forgetting to pack their offense proved to be a bit of an issue. A combined 8 runs over the 3 game series at Jackie Robinson Park made for a very small margin of error by the pitching staff against a good Bruin offense. The Huskers actually had leads in the final two games of the series, getting off... |
Nebraska Athletics Pitching still seemed to be off on a 12-6 loss to finish the weekend at Ohio State Nebraska and Ohio State played their weekend finale this afternoon and the rain held off, for the most part, for them to get the game in. It looked a little sketchy there for a little bit since it rained for about 22 hours straight. Nebraska’s pitching woes continued though as they went through numerous pitchers until they landed on Hannah Camenzind to finish out the game... |
Robby Bolin has three hits and an RBI today | Nebraska Athletics Nebraska coaching staff is looking for answers The Nebraska baseball team is trying to find itself after dropping their second game in as many days on the West Coast to the UCLA Bruins. Neither of them was really close and the million-dollar question is can this team do it? Find themselves. Horn puts up another donut. Nebraska Athletics The Huskers almost pull out a win in a run heavy game against the Buckeyes in day 2 of 3 After winning the first game of the weekend last night, the Huskers were back this morning for round 2 against the Ohio State Buckeyes. The game was originally scheduled for 1pm, but got moved to 11am because of weather, but then pushed to 11:15am because of lightning. That was the only delay and the game began at 11:15am. Today was a rough outing... |
Will Walsh got the Friday night call against UCLA | Nebraska Athletics The Cornhuskers drop Game 1 of the series What college age man would not like to spend Spring Break in southern California? Battled. | Nebraska Athletics Numbers 2 & 3 in the nation in home runs faced off in Columbus, OH, this evening. Someone parked ‘em, the other didn’t. GBR I did say this prior to tonights slugfest! Ohio State is no joke because 1) we are currently two of the three most powerful teams in the country dinger-wise and 2) Ohio State threw down the gauntlet in conference last season finishing on an 11-2 run in 2024 before ripping off an 18-5-1 start to 2025. So... |
