Our virtual speaker this year is Haven Fields who joined Nebraska Athletics as the Deputy Athletic Director/Chief Operating Officer in April of 2024. Fields will serve as the day-to-day football administrator, assisting Head Coach Matt Rhule and his football staff. In addition to his role with the football program, Fields will oversee the Huskers Athletic Fund team and assist Troy Dannen, Athletic Director, in managing the day-to-day operations of the athletic department.
Fields played collegiate football for Auburn, earning the Zeke Smith Award (Auburn’s Defensive Player of the Year). He was an honorable mention All-SEC pick as a linebacker and earned a spot on the All-SEC Football Allstate “Good Works” Team. After college, Fields played two seasons of professional football in the Canadian Football League for the Hamilton Tigercats and British Columbia Lions.
Fields earned his bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from Auburn in 2001 and later earned a master’s in Higher Education Administration/Sports Management. He and his wife, Dr. Mya, who’s an Assistant Dean for Purdue University’s School of Multidisciplinary and Professional Studies have two sons, Haven Jr. (7) and Hendrix (5).
You don’t need to bring anything but your Husker spirit. Ty Dragoo is providing Fairbury (Stadium) hot dogs. Adult drinks will be courtesy of Fleming Place Wine & Spirits. Reser’s Fine Foods will be providing sides. Runza Restaurant, Lawrence, will provide Runzas and Hooters of Topeka will provide wings. There will be lemonade, other drinks, and deserts. So, with all these items provided, you don’t need to bring anything but yourself!
Northeast Kansans for Nebraska chapter members and their family are free. Non-members will be asked to make a small donation to attend. Please let us know in advance if you’re planning on attending, but that is not necessary to attend.
We will have drawings for Husker memorabilia and a live auction with all proceeds going to our scholarship fund. Invite a friend and come and join other Husker fans in the area as we get ready for the 2024 football & volleyball season. We will also honor our chapter’s UNL scholarship recipients and those who participated in the “Road to Nebraska” fund raising scholarship program.
Our members will be renewing their family membership at this time of year. If you have not already done so, we would appreciate it if you would join, or rejoin our chapter at this time. Please fill out the form located on our website and send it in in advance, or bring it with you to speed things up at the registration table.
